Technical 1.4 16v Super Fire Engine Which Models

Hi guys, thinking about buying a 1.4 16v Lump for my seicento, D4NS ur fault! lol

Which models do they feature am i right in thinking :

• Punto MK1 95
• Stilo 1.4 16v
• Grande Punto 1.4 16v
• Panda 100hp

Any others? also can i still run the 5 speed box?

HAHAHA. Brilliant.

Umm no on the mk 1, your thinking of mk3, and the fiat 500. Would highly recommend the stilo engine as they are getting cheaper and coming up more often now. It also doesn't have VVT, which will only cause you extra work.

Why would you think that?

The engine turns at the same speed so the box will match.

It will just get through the gears quicker.

lol i come from a background of modding Vespas u have to change the cogs pretty quick if u change the capcity

Get the Stilo box with the engine! The OE box should be OK, though.

There are others as well, Idea etc. Just look for any 1368cc 16v without the variable exhaust cam (starJET). These ones are spotted easily as they have an extra oil switch/solenoid, on top of the head. It's not a biggie though, but will make it a pain if you go with aftermarket cams etc. Also the intake is different (studding etc) so older inlets won't fit and the intake ports will need some modding.

Don't you need the inlet from a 1.2 16v on the 1.4 so it'll fit inside a cinq/sei?

Maybe I'm getting mixed up with something else.

Nope, you can mod the 1.4 inlet, put a cable throttle body on, use the FBW ECU. It does fit in the bay, but may require the rear sound damping removing.

The inlet from a mk1 punto 1.2 16v is what you mean, as it's easier option as you can bolt a cable throttlebody on happy days.

The newer 1.2 and 1.4 for manifold has fly by wire bodies and are a different bolt pattern so cable bodies won't fit on unless you make an adaptor plate.

Another thing to consider is the 1.4 engines are COP rather than coil pack, so you will need a coil pack mount plate from a mk1 punto or early mk2 .

so if i got a stilo engine would i need the adaptor plate? to fit the 1.2 16v Inlet?

Fly By Wire ECU....ie, the original ECU of the car. It's easily do-able. mapping is probably a no go, but it'll give you the factory install reliability.
