Technical 1.2 engine revving by its self

not sure if it is a MK1 or MK2, seems to only be doing it when the engine is warm, it doesnt only do it at a stand still but also when im going along the road, i have disconnected the throttle position sensor, and seemed to have done the job, but didnt have far of my journey left.
i was just wondering if this could be what is causing it, or if it could also be something else?
any information apreciated

Try cleaning the TPS. Cheap carb ceaner will do the job nicely (try Netto or Poundshop). Or jus t take off the throttle body and clean the lot (outside first).

Make sure the throttle cable isn't too tight -- should be a fair bit of slack.

If you have a single injector, you have a Mk1.

Also well worth mentioning that vacuum leaks tend to cause higher revs.

So if cleaning the idle control valve etc doesn't sort it out, it could well be a split hose somewhere.

Agree with all above suggestions but if still a problem it is likely to be the lambda sensor in the exhaust particularly if there has been a head gasket failure sometime; easy to replace but you need a special spanner........
