1.2 Brava problem

Hope someone can help,
got a couple of problems and wondered if anyone had had these before and know what to do about them...

1. When accelarating from being stopped the car is very hessitant until it gets to about 40mph then is fine, I also think i am having to go down the gears alot more whilst driving (but that might just be me)..It seems to happen more when the car is warm and it is worse the harder i try to accelarate.

2. When driving down the road, the temp guage will go from normal to very high, If i tap the top of the dash it goes back to the normal position, it only does it rarely

Any help would be appreaciated

1. Any lights on the dash, beside the normal ones?
Last service and what was changed ?
Sounds like the lambda sensor, but it could be something else.

2. normal thing - the dash sometimes loose the connection to, so the dial goes up.

1. The engine management light came on, then went off

2. is it a ball ache to take the dash off?

Regards the temperature needle - check out the 'repair guide' tab above and look for the jumping temperature needle pdf - it looks simple enough (need to do mine).

Regards the hesitancy - that could be anything - HT Leads / Spark Plugs / Injectors / Throttle Body / Some Sensor . . .
