Finally got my handbook. Its the latest one and doesnt have the 1.2 fuel consumption figures in it.
I'm getting 36mpg with 70% urban 30% fast A roads. Any ideas what I should expect - I've got a fairly light right foot!
Its a 5 door with Air-con by the way
Thanks

Well in real driving, my 1.2 Stilo Active 3-door averages between 42mpg up to 45mpg on a good long run. But alas i have no aircon, and the 3-door definately looks more aerodynamic!

I tried driving my Saxo VTS gently for a few weeks to see if economy would go up and it actually dropped by a couple of mpg.

I drive my Stilo as i drove my Saxo, and pretty much every car i've had, gently when travelling long distances, hard when i need to merge with traffic, had a bad day, or overtaking, but then drive sensibly shortly afterwards.

I always seem to get within a few Mpg of manufacturers figures, but friends often comment on me spanking my car! Its just a matter of spanking when necessary and not all of the time! :)

Just for info, as i'll be filling up this weekend in preperation for my big drive south.

I've covered 350miles, averaging 43.5mpg still 200miles in the tank or so the fuel computer says. :I

LOL - I have to fill up after about 270 miles, computer showing about 58miles range! I guess with an engine twice the size, half the mpg isn't bad :)

Yipes, 270miles.... i even managed 350mile in my VTS and it had a fairly tichy tank!

Only car i have that does less than your car is my mini, about 220 miles to a tank, only a 7.5 gallon tank mind you, and it averages 30-33mpg, still it never gets driven gently!

Now this is sweet. Not just the fact that I am writing this on my SE P800 phone.[8D]

Trip - 300miles, Glenrothes in Fife to the village of Alton. Driver & 3 passengers, full boot. 2 toilet stops of 30mins, Left Glenrothes 10.30am arrived Alton 3.30pm.

Average mpg - 49.8mpg. Never intentionally dropped below 70mph, often running 75-80mph.

All this from a 1.2 stilo.:I

Thats impressive!
Mine is now 38.8 but thats 100% urban at the moment so thats not too bad. I've found in the 4 weeks that I've had the car that you need a very smooth driving style, a light right foot and always be in the right gear. have to take it on a long run soon.

Stiloboy, a steady drive does wonders for economy! Funny enough, my brother is at Alton Towers today:)

All in the final fuel reading!

Drove from Glenrothes to Alton, to Hamilton and bricked it and filled up. 595.5miles all in (fuel computer said there was 61miles left in the tank), average mpg 49.5mpg, thats about 30%urban and 70%motorway driving, with driver and 3 passengers and a full boot!

Quite amazing really, all the more amazing in that i covered about half the return distance at 80mph. :I

When I done the euro trip with the 1.6 the car was doing 80 - 90 avarage most of the time, came back with 38mpg avarage.

Got the same 1.2 engine in my brava, currently getting 42.5mpg out of it and thats mostly town driving and a brisk run along the dual carrageway to work at the weekends. Driving it exactly how I did my old 214 and that done 37mpg (long runs it would do 42mpg, love to see what the 1.2 can do on the same runs)

MPG gradually creeping up, average now 39mpg, however just done round trip of 70 miles mixed driving - average 49.5mpg. Thats not bad for a 1.2 pulling quite a heavy car.
