Swapping Punto 1.2 8v MPI engine into Cinquecento Sporting and ran into slight issue with engine height. It is too high and bonnet doesn't close.
Wasn't it supposed to be straight fit?
Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to make it fit? Need like 3-5cm of extra space. I suppose I could add a spacer between engine mount and car body, but it wouldn't be enough.

Can I got the engine from is a 1996 Fiat Punto 75.

Oh, and what parts should I scavenge off this car before I take it to scrapyard? I have the engine, ECU, loom, code box and fuel pump. I suppose I should also take gear box just in case? What else? Driveshafts? Brakes (bigger perhaps? do they fit 13 inch wheels?)?

They are a straight and they do fit it sounds like you've tried fitting the airbox which obviously isn't going to work with the extra height of the 1242

Thanks for the info.
Yes, it is the airbox that doesn't fit.
I was trying to avoid using custom solution as I am planning to take this car to an event that restricts any intake modifications but seems like they have to make an exception.

Is Cinquecento radiator enough for this engine? It warmed up really quickly. Took like 5 mins from 0C to 90C and fan was running every 30 seconds at idle. And it is 0C outside.

Maybe you could make an 899 airbox fit your application it sits at the side of the engine atleast then it looks abit more "factory"

Sounds about right in all honesty the 8v fires are a hot running engine and do heat up quick

I'd rather phrase it differently - the Cinq rad is not enough for anything. The very first problem I had with mine was poor cooling, and back then it was not even modded. But, with extra care and supervision even heavy turbo mods manage to stay alive with Cinq rad so you should be fine.

Thanks to both of you. Glad to hear that Cinq radiator does the job.
I have a new radiator and thermostat installed so should be fine.

Sadly 899 engine isn't common here. Probably going to get a custom air box 3D printed to fit cone filter somewhere.

Make sure the hot air has a way out of the engine compartment.

The exhaust sits right behind the rad so there is a lot of heat soak.

The Sei has louvres in its wheel arch liner to help get the hot air out. Remove/remodel your inner arch to suit. I also added a outlet vent on the end of the bumper and a bonnet exit.

What do you do to wheel arches so it cools better? My cinq also suffers from overheating. Can you guys tell how, and how much is improved? I would apreciate photos. Thanks.

The idea is to get the hot air out of the car. The Sei has louvre vents in the front face of the inner wheel arch liner which allows the hot air out into the wheel area.

This would be the easiest and first port of call.

You guys mean the ones on the side or in the hood?
Plastic part that covers wheel arch.

Yesterday car died on me while driving. Cranks but no start. No firing, just cranks.

Spark is ok.
Fuel pump runs.
Plenty of fuel in tank.
Disconnected fuel hose and I can see fuel flowing when turning on ignition.
Injectors get signal.
Cam belt seems fine (can't see much due to cover).
Tried Cinq ECU + codebox.
Yet spark plugs are dry

Just got 10L of fuel from petrol station + it happened 1km after adding another 10L of fuel from a canister filled with petrol that I got when emptying donor car from where the engine came from.

What could it be?
Something got clogged in fuel system? Can fuel pressure drop during driving due to bad fuel pump?

(It's a 1.2 8v MPI)

Connected a digital tester to injector plug and it was showing something like 5V (jumping around) when cranking so it looks fine to me.
