Quick question guys, I have a friend with a gearbox from a 1.1 cinq, I know the boxes are the same however mine car is a 1.2 16v punto, and the gearbox uses a hydraulic clutch. The cinq box is a cable clutch. To fix that box to my car, can I just change the fork? Thanks

No and yes. The final drive in Cinq boxes is generally higher than in the "equivalent" Punto -- because the Punto is a relative lardarse and requires lower gearing.

The box will fit fine, to the engine, but you may have issues with the offside engine mount, so check that very carefully. Otherwise it should just be a matter of swapping bits over from the old box to the "new".

A final but -- you may find that there are "holes" in the gearing -- generally manufacturers fit 6 speed boxes to cars (closer gearing) which don't have a great torque spread.

OK thanks, will keep an eye out for a punto box then. Would like a 6 speed box but there hard to come by around here.
