Hi
i am buying a seicento as a project car and want to drop a 1.2 16v into it, i have read previous threads and the faq's but just want to clarify it all and get some more advice so i can fully understand this process so i can commit myself towards it.
Is there a specific model of seicento which is easiest to use as a base?
whats the full list of parts i will need ?
Will the engine drop in or is there additional cutting etc
anything else i need to know.

i know you have read threads about this quite often but i just want to clarify it once and for all since all the rest arnt really that clear.

cheers.

not a conversion i've done but pretty sure a mpi sporting is gonna be the best starting point. So your looking for a late 2000 or younger model.

I'm not done a 16v conversion but i'm sure someone who has will be along shortly ;)

Hmm don't think so, as you still need the punto sporting Mk1 loom and ECU to work.

And if you go standalone then it doesn't matter which you start with :p.

Again not done this, just through reading. Tony or gregor has done this with the punto loom.

A later MPI sei will be a benefit and a half. You can use the MPI loom, you just need to extend a few wires to meet places on the inlet manifold.

However if your going to use the sei ECU then a remap is a must, otherwise problems with feuling will occur.

Punto mk1 inlet manifold, and if your feeling zesty a brava/bravo 1.6 cable throttle body (because it's bigger than the punto one).

If you think your going to swap out the exhaust manifold for a 4-2-1 then advise would be to do it whilst the engine is out, so then you will need to extend rear lambda sensor, and also think about a cat con (assuming you wish to run one).

Engine is a something to choose very carefully over, you could go for a stilo 1.2 16v as it has a bigger flywheel thus more meat to machine off and balance (engine code is 188A500).

Induction Kit, most people go with BMC with a 90 bend.

Anything else just ask :)

Thanks

cheers for the reply ycming where abouts in glasgow u at ? have u done a seicento conversion before ?

@ togder
what would u consider a late sei ? 2001ish
what about gearboxes ?
i dont think ill go through the 4-2-1 and stand alone ecu route as they arn't fully needed atm
could these be decatted?
stilo 1.2 16v engines arnt that common , out of the brava/bravo and punto engines which one is more reliable and easier to fit if i cant get a hold of the stilo lump?

sorry for all the questions and cheers :)

Essentially all of the 1.2 16v engines are pretty much identical. The stilo one has the cam sensor which needs to be retained as the MPI sei has one, and is needed for the ECU to read.

If you don't want to run 4-2-1 then you will also need the manicat also, which should just bolt straight onto your exhast as the MPI sei uses manicats.

Your gearbox and shafts will do the job fine.

personally the stilo engine would be a better choice mainly because of the bigger flywheel option, and the cam sensor already being there.

Sei, anything after 2001 will be perfect.

Just use your sei engine mount on the stilo/punto/bravo block, grind or space the mount so theres clearence for the alternator belt (Literally only a few mm's needed to trim off, unless you space it then theres no need).

Thanks
