What is the voltage between the ECU heatshield/case and the engine block
While cranking
While cranking
CorrectAnd btw it's clear that it's not a ground to the engine or gearbox bcz we did the voltage drop test and there wasn't any issue
This does not sound right to meOn the thin metal on the back of the ECU is 0.5v
Alright so the ecu is connected to the battery seat is fixed by 4 hex 5 mm bolts and the one on the bottom left *viewing from the plugs view contains 2 ground, one is to the chassis and the other a ground to the upper ECU loomThis does not sound right to me
Mine is slightly different as the ECU is bolted directly to the engine
There is very little current running to the ECU there should be no voltage drop
The maximum difference should be 0.2V which is the drop we measured to the block
How is your ECU case grounded?
Do you mean by that that sometimes the drop test goes beyond 0.3v causing the car to fail?Correct
It is intermittent
But no voltage drop equals no probem
It should be below 0.2V on the plus side of the starter and 0.2V negtive side of the starterDo you mean by that that sometimes the drop test goes beyond 0.3v causing the car to fail?
But in that case we're below 0.3 and should start
But this still doesn't explain my problem bcz i think if there's some issue with my grounding the car shouldn't crank at all
There's no problem with the gearbox groundBut this still doesn't explain my problem bcz i think if there's some issue with my grounding the car shouldn't crank at all
