Hi all, just looking for some info re the Multipla alarm system.

I'd look in our owners handbook but unfortunately the car was recently involved in an RTA and has only returned from the repair shop this morning - minus it's owners handbook.

<sarcasm> Apparently it's my fault that it's not there anymore, as they advise all customers to remove all valuable *personal* items. How silly I was in failing to remove the radio / CD player then too, and how lucky we are that it didn't disappear. Phew :bang: . </sarcasm>

Normally when setting the alarm it beeps just the once but is now beeping a second time approximately 5 seconds after the first beep. I'm thinking that it's trying to tell me that there's something still open. I've checked that the bonnet switch is plugged in correctly as this was a front end damage RTA but this is all hunky dory.

Is there somewhere else that will give me some info as to where the problem lies, an led code maybe ?

Also - probably going to need to get hold of a new handbook if the repairer can't come up with it. Any ideas as to how much ?

TIA
Robin

I like sarcasm:)

Examiner should be able to record last alarm triggers & pinpoint fault.I'd take it to fiat garage then send/take bodyshop the repair bill if it was as you say working correctly beforehand.

Thanks T - sorry for the delay in responding.

I've narrowed it down to the bonnet switch. Holding it down manually, even just very slightly, allows the alarm to arm properly.

It looks like the bracket that is used to mount the switch has been fitted to the replacement panel in the wrong position. I put a large ball of blu-tack on the inside of the bonnet where it ought to come into contact with the switch plunger and closed the bonnet down fully. Result ? No contact whatsoever.

Looking through the gap with the bonnet slightly open I'm wondering if the new panel had no predrilled holes for the bracket which is mounted with pop rivets, and they've (wrongly) guesstimated the bracket position as it looks like it's some way closer to the vehicle offside than it ought to be.

Is there anyone reading this who has a similar Multipla with the alarm who could give me a measurement between the (nearside) edge of the alarm switch bracket and the (nearside) edge of the panel that its mounted on ?

Pretty please ? :worship:

I'd take it back and get them to sort it but we're still in dispute re the missing bits, and I can use a pop riveter as well as the next man ! (y)

Cheers
Robin
