Hi fiat fans ...I'm just about to buy new coil packs for my 2004 fiat Idea 1.4 16 valve ...I found place in Italy that has Magneti Marrelli for £22.55 each and another place in Latvia that has Hella for £23.30 each ... so about the same price I guess the postage will be the deal breaker ...But coil packs are new to me ...All the cars I have had up to now have had a coil ...or have been diesel ...any advice on either of these two options ?...

Hi :)

Only time I had issues.. misfire

The 2 packs were changed at the same time.

I seem to recall that serial numbers overlap.. so any coilpack for a designated engine range will do the trick.

I.e. any 1.2 /1.4

My experiences are from 1108cc engines

Panda 2+3. Punto 1 (+2) and Cinquecento

Later engines had
'stick coils': indidual coils.. sat on top of spark plugs ( too new for me..)

SEARCH on here should find lots of info :)

Its possible that @ zeewulf may give any Idea specific tips

Cheers Charlie , yes this 2004 Idea has the stick type coil packs. one for each plug ..and the part numbers on both the Hella and the Magnetti Marrelli ...are the correct one for this motor I just wondered if anyone had had good or bad luck with these...I guess I will see what they want to charge for postage ....I don't need them the car runs fine but when I put new plugs in last year two of the coils had broken /damaged connection I repaired them with a couple of cable ties and some glue...and that repair has held up fine but ....

Up date the coilpacks turned up to day that is impressive 6 days ..I would have had them quicker but carparts4less did not put my phone number on the parcel and did not send me a tracking number until I phoned yesterday to badger them.I live out in the sticks so couriers don't deliver to the house but they phone you when the stuff arrives at the local office and I ask them to hold it and I pick it up next time I'm in town..So a tracking number is vital if there is no phone number on the packet ...any way I got 'em to cold and windy to fit them today...Is anyone interested in a seeing a few photos and a description of the process of replacing a set of coilpacks on a 1.4 16valve Idea ...? I'm guessing it's similar to Punto or Panda ..I'll do it on the next warm still day ..(.nb Must get on and build the workshop )....
