I have just noticed a squeak from the steering,it happens when your turning right just behind the steering wheel it sounds like its rubbing against something and it gets worse when the city button is on anyone else have the same problem?

I have noticed a similar noise, but it's not very loud.

I have the same thing I think, it's like a creaking noise rather than a squeak now though. Happens turning in both directions with or without city mode. The dealer has said he's going to replace the steering column (under warranty) when it goes in next time (next week). Will let you know if this fixes the problem.

I'm taking the car to the garage next week for:

1. sqeaky clutch
2. noise from the back (sub-frame?) whe it turns
3. noise from the steering wheel
4. recall to change a tensioner of the belt

I'll tell you the results.

My stilo has been pulling badly to the left got everything checked tracking, camber and got steering checked but it still pulled badly.yesterday i hit a pothole and it pulled the other way the car didnt know which way to go so i went to advance today tracking and camber perfect no damage done and i looked at the sub frame while it was on the lift and the lads said everthing was ok.What the f*** do i do now

My car is very jumpy over bumps and dips. Sometimes it feels like the car is going to jack-knife, it can't decide which way to roll. I think it's partly due to my wider wheels, but I am also reaching the conclusion the suspension geometry is a bit crap. [V]

I thought my new Stilo pulled to the right, until i let the car steer itself (hands off steering wheel) and it tracked perfectly straight, came the conclusion my old Escort must have pulled left and i'd got used driving against the pull! [)]

Slightly OT: Lead, could the 'not knowing which way to roll' be something to do with one of the other electronic 'safety'/stability features?

I'm beginning to think that it has become cheaper for manufacturers to install electronically controlled traction and stability control systems than producing a decent chassis in the first place!

My car isn't going back to the dealer for repairs after all as they are replacing the whole car instead! :D
