Bozzy, the steering wheel will physically fit on as all Stilo's share the same steering wheel; all that changes is the option of switches.

As to the functionality of the switches, I don't think they will work; from what I can tell on ePER, you need a different set of column stalks so that you can plug the connector for the switches in, so that the signals will be picked up on the CAN line at the clockspring.

This is dependent on age; any Stilo BUILT before 11-2003 will need a whole new set of stalks, whereas Stilo's 11-2003 onwards will just require a new contact (around £70).

I maybe wrong, but hope that is of some use!

Cheers rroope, it's a late 04 so might enquire with dealer.

Diff clockspring as rroope said thus diff switch.

This has made me remember that the punto grande all have the same wiring looms(obviously 3 & 5 door versions so basically only 2 looms throughout range)which means you can always add goodies at later date with no wiring problems:D

Will just need a new clockspring then, it is supplied separate to the column stalks on later vehicles. Then, you connect the switches to that and they'll go into the CAN line.

Now that we're on the subject of adding stuff can any of the techies tell me if it's actually possible to add the cruise control to the Stilo??
I know this has come up before and someone said thet they'd heard of somebody in Italy who had done it but can anybody confirm this??

My Stilo is a late 2004 and has got an empty connector on the stearing column. I'm really interested in doing it but the new stalk costs 200 euros and i'd like to be sure before buying one!!!!

Thanks(y)

Mmmmm tricky one.....the switches on the steering wheel send signal to body computer then via CAN signals to the engine ECU.I'd assume you would have to also think about the instrument cluster(although proxy-alignment might sort out the warning lights here)but as it is controlled by engine ECU its worth asking someone with Eper if different body computer & engine ECU's are required...see if Eper lists them seperate. Also clutch/brake switches.

According to the Italian Stilo forum it is possible with all Stilo's; it just depends if your car is fully predisposed (apparently it has to have ESP), semi-predisposed or not predisposed at all!

They say you need to connect the Examiner to tell the instrument cluster to turn the light on, even though cruise will work straight away. It also says the examiner can be used to test all the switches on the stalk.

Hope that helps, if anyone needs installation instructions PM me! (They are in Italian though!)
