Hi guys,

I have a FIAT Stilo 04 with a few scratches and marks, just general wear and tear.

I am off next week and fancy touching up the bodywork.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on products or general application?

My colour is Grigio Tecno VR, with the code 698 and I have seen a couple of products on ebay which look like they might work.

But any advice and guidance is always appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Best bet is to polish the scratches out to minimise their appearance rather than going the paint route.

You'll find it very difficult to get a decent finish with spray cans, even if you're a pro paint sprayer... and the colour match may or may not be great.

You may get away with it if you're down low (sills etc.) but anywhere hightly visible (bonnet or wings) would make me leave it alone until I can get a pro' to do it.

Also have that colour, it isn't a common colour for Stilo's, and also have bad experience with touch up paints (have tried three different sets - two of which were mixed cans from eBay like the ones you posted).

I had a new bumper sprayed last week and the colour is perfect. Absolutely no way you can see it's new. When I talked to the painter he said he had the colour mixed based on the current state of the paint (i.e. he matched it to the car and didn't order an off the shelf can). So if you you really want to touch up the paint this way then I would definitely have the colour matched to your car... but that's more expensive. He gave me the left over paint to use as touch up in the future.

Otherwise I also had the week off and have been attending to my Stilo. Similarly to you I had a few minor and a few deeper scratches on the car and they vanished with polish and wax. My procedure is:

1) I washed the car with clean water
2) washed the car with a sponge and pH neutral car shampoo (Maguire's pink works for me)
3) washed off soap
4) waited for the car to dry and then polished the car with automotive polish to really bring out the paintwork and shine
5) applied a wax coating ( Turtle Wax works best for me)
6) leave it for a few hours to sit (I put the car into the shade as well)

Looks brand new, can send some photos if anyone's interested. Also have new wheels [emoji106]
