My fault has been sort of fixed. I was getting beeped & flashed by other drivers on the way in this morning, so I stopped and noticed that all 3 brake lights were staying on. The dealer said it had acidentally moved the brake light pedal switch causing the computer to think I was braking & accelerating at the same time for long periods, hence the shut down. The ASR spinning wheel lamp should light up, on start up check, when the wheels spin and when there's a fault. Mine doesn't so they reckon it's a bulb on the dash. Back in on 9/2/04

brake light switch is only ajustment asr esp on network is more oftern than not cured with replacement of steering angle sensor this often will not show a can network error as angle sensor signal is processed direct to the body computer

just a point here on consumer rights. The law recently changed. It now says if a fault develops within six months then it is deemed to have been there since the car was sold. This is grounds to reject it, bearing in mind it is a primary safety system.

We're not talking scratched paint here - it's a major safety issue in my opinion. Even if you don't want to go through the process of rejecting it at least make them aware you know your rights and are contemplating it. It surprises you how serious people begin to take these kind of issues when you start quoting the law.

1.6 Dynmamic 5 door.

I took mine back to the dealer to get the ASR warning light fixed. They said that because the car has ESP, the light for the ASR (spinning wheel icon) is not used. Is this correct or is he bulls*iting me)?

sbaddison: it's true that if you have ESP, the ASR light will not light up, but the ESP light should light during Check.

Anyway, any other news on the subject? What about the new software for the Examiner?

All the warnings that light up is fake you dont have even to stop or restart the car maybe sometimes you get a rear fog light warning this comes up on low temperature some dealers here in Greece solved this problem by changing the instruments or the ECU some other dealers clean up the fuses or a cable was moving but im not really sure if that could solve forever the problem.Fiat Auto Hellas promise to send the solution so i keep you informed.
