The manifold on my 1.9 jtd is shot and throwing up a engine light .. wondering whats the best solution? and if it gets blanked does the engine light stay on or loss of peformance .. and if its easy to take off, the garage has quoted me 1k for this so not to happy timing belt also needs to be changed aswell as pump etc

What about the manifold has failed, exactly? Some of the common faults such as linkage arm failure can be repaired without removal.

A lot of people have the swirl flaps remapped out along with EGR and DPF (where fitted). Might be an option to explore?

If it needs changing it is a big ass job as you can't get it off without removing fuel pump and doing the cambelt, so the £1k bill doesn't surprise me I'm afraid.

I have a 1.9 JTDM manifold in the shed, I think. Its the plastic version from Alfa 159 era I think, so may be the wrong type for your car. If it's the correct one for your car though you're welcome to it for price of postage.

there all leaking around where the arm should be the 2nd flap actially goes all the way around unlike the rest .. best getting it deleted probably

have you done this yourself and noticed any perormance issues

Never arrived at the point of needing to do this my self, no. It's a fairly common thing to do across the Alfa range (the motor is found in the 147, 156 and GT) and I know a number of people that did. I never saw anyone reporting any ill effects.

Lets face it your able to drive it now albeit with swirl flaps malfunctioning.
