Does anyone here have the 8-speaker hifi-system with subwoofer installed? How does it sound? Speaker placement? Where's the subwoofer, what kind and how big is it?
Is it true that 3-door Stilo only has 6 speakers? The brochure doesn't say anything about this.

The subwoofer is in the trunk its not very big but its sounds good as i saw it and listen it also have 2 tweaters above the rear speakers its good in my opinion for factory option. All the Stilos has 6 speakers as standard.

Hi

I've looked on my Fiat Parts CD and can see the following differences:

1. Upgraded tweeters are placed in the upper part of the front door.
2. Upgraded speakers are placed in both front doors - door trim remains umchanged.
3. Upgraded speakers are placed in both rear doors.
4. A tweeter is placed in each of the rear doors, meaning there is a different trim (I saw one when my local dealer ordered me the wrong trim - the main speaker grill remains unchanged).
5. Subwoofer placed in the boot.

Hope this helps in some way!

Yeah I have it and having had a BIG sound system in my last punto it compares well considering it is not aftermarket. I don't seem to have tweeters in the back though and it only seems to be 7 speakers and not 8. Maybe the sub counts as two? Based on Fiat thinking, that wouldn't surprise me. Still, worth the money.

Hi!
I've had the upgraded 8 speaker system (supposedly!)
I can see the subwoofer ; 2 front tweeters ; 2 speakers in the front doors and the 2 speakers in the rear side walls but no more speakers...
I'm going to check with my Fiat dealership - My dealer is a great source of knowlege.
I can see where speakers could be put - parcel shelves in the boot, but there is nothing there (unless i'm blind! ;))

I shall post everyone when heard something...

My new car arrived (didn't get it yet though) and I went to check it out. I was _not_ impressed with the 8-speaker system. Although I just listened some music from radio for about 20 seconds. Maybe the sound will be better when I toss my heavy metal MP3 CD in :)

Maybe I've spoiled myself with really good sound systems... Anyway, wiring is there so changing the speakers to high quality ones should help a lot, and maybe adding a REAL subwoofer isn't a bad idea either.

But the car itself, damn it looks good! It's a 3dr loden green. Perfect color, although the dark metallic blue was very impressive too.

I don't know, these boy racers. I hope you're not one of these types where you can be heard a mile before the car appears? :)

After the dealership "lost" my original order with the winter pack I ended up win a car with a sky window and upgraded hi-fi and sub for the same cost. The sky window was certainly a bonus but I would have never have bothered with the sub. After all, listening to the news on radio 4 in the evening hardly warrants earth shaking bass now does it? :D

How much does 8-speaker hifi-system with subwoofer costs?
Just wonder?.

I recommend the "sound pack" which is 930e.
It has 8-speaker system, MP3-player AND the steering wheel with audio controls, which costs 435e alone.

In my 3-door stilo, only 6 loudspeakers are installed in addition to the wubwoofer. My dealer told me the 16cm in the doors are coax-speakers (to give a total of 8 lspkr). That's wrong, these 16 cm are only dual-cone.
Globally the sound is really not delicate. On heavy rock or techno-dance music that's perfect. But on delicate voices for example, that's really hard. And the multiband EQ isn't efficient at all.
This system is not very well designed. Loudspeakers are cheap models, the subwoofer can't provide really low frequencies, and there's clearly no filtering section (to avoid sending to front and rear loudspeakers low frequencies, as there are provided by the subwoofer).
It's also a shame that the level of the subwoofer directly depends on rear-loudspeakers level. It implicates that if you can't have good bass level and front stereo image.
In conclusion I have the feeling that this "powerful" system consists only in the addition of a little subwoofer to the normal audio system. I'm very disapointed. I had an Alfa 147 before the stilo and the Bose sound system is much better designed.

Luckily the sound unit has line out- and subwoofer connections. So I'm thinking about replacing all four 165mm speakers with higher quality ones, and supply them with 4-channel amplifier with frequency controls. Or 5-channel and add an additional subwoofer for really low frequencies.

Only the 5dr version has 8 visible speakers.it has 2 tweeters plus from the 3dr.anyway i got a Q

Proc, about replacing the original speakers with higher quality ones, does it reguire some adapter or any 165mm would fit??? Will it get a better sound with higher quality speakers or it's notting special without the amp??

165mm is a standard. So any 165mm speaker should fit unless it's too "long". But I don't think that will be a problem.

Better sound quality definitely. Stilo's Visteon-unit is 4x35W which should be enough for 165mm speakers if you don't except much bass sounds from them.
In my other car I have high quality 165mm's in front and 6x9"s in rear and the bass kicks better than my current Stilo system with subwoofer. And there's no amplifier, just the Sony head unit (claims 4x50W but 4x30 is probably closer to truth).

About connectors.. no RCA's, just some kind of special connectors. I haven't looked at the unit itself, just the separate sound manual that came with the car. It talks about line output connector for amplifier and/or subwoofer, but it doesn't make much sense. Probably bad translation. I see channel A and B line signals and subwoofer signals though. There's also a wakeup current for amplifier.

Someone else has probably taken a closer look at the back of the unit? Is every connector there, and is it possible to "steal" the line signals from them?

i have installed a sub in my car.i installed at a local dealer who sells only car audio equipment and he said that is unpossible to steal line from the head unit,he stole the line from the rear left speaker.now the sub sounds perfect.

If it's impossible, then where does the active subwoofer take its signal? I see a subwoofer line-out in the connection schematic.

As I've said above, subwoofer level is directly linked to rear-speakers level. Thus I wouldn't be surprised if Fiat had connected the subwoofer on this hi-level signal. I agree this is a dirty solution for a factory equipment...

Proc as i said, my active sub takes signal from my rear left speaker.i dont see why the sub line out at the head unit cant be use (i know that there is s line out for sub) but thats it.

Just ordered two pairs of Sony Xplod XS-F1731 3-way speakers (they were on sale, really cheap:)).
I've browsed the boards for installation tips and it doesn't seem like an easy job... we'll see. Glad we have a few here who have replaced their speakers too.

Will have to think about the tweeters later.
