Technical Removing the front bumper

try doing a search for changing a headlamp bulb. I'm sure that you are suppost to remove the bumper to do this.

I haven't tried it on the Stilo, but I would start from the bottom and work my way up.
Remove the protective covers underneath the car, and also inside the wheel arches. Then just remove all the bolts holding the bumper in place.
Alternatively, you could tae it to a panel shop and pay somebody to remove it for you ;)

Why do you want to remove the bumper? Do you have park distance sensors in the bumper?

Ben R can definately tell you because we had his bumper off at the weekend

If I remember correctly, there are 4 fixings under the grill, 3 behind the arch lining on each side and 4 on the base??? :D

Its not to difficult.

There are 3 screws that hold the splash panel/inner arch lining on, undo these & you should be able to fit your hand inside. There is an 8mm self tapping screw & a T30 torx bolt, undo these & remove & repeat the process on the other side of the car. There are 4 T30 torx bolts just above the grill, undo these & remove. Hope you don't mind getting dirty(no jokes please! ) Get on the floor & underneath you will see 2 10mm bolts that hold the front of the undertray on, remove these & you will see 2 T30 torx bolts underneath, remove these & the 2 on the ends of the bumper & it should pull free! It was going so well . . .

. . . but something had to go wrong!

Started taking front bumper off today, got it all done (with the help of Ben R's guide of course (y)), and got to the passenger side bolts under the arch liner.

Started to undo the Torx T30 and bang, it just started free spinning. So i held onto the thread of the bolt with pliers and started to undo, and took it all off to reveal a hellacoil (?) in the wing which was just free spinning. Managed to take the headlight off, replace bulbs and cover (purpose of the job), and JB-welded the coil back in the wing. Went to do it up, got near the end and it popped out completely, so now I was screwed . . .

Have decided to put a 10mm nut and washer instead of the coil, as I can get a spanner in there once it's on. Should do the trick and its a nice flush fit for the nut and washer so I'll be happier with that. Piccy below shows how the car is now and one of the b*****d thing that fell off! (Maybe going through the puddle put too much stress on it, it did force the wheel arch liner off afterall!).

i took my bumper off last weekend and can't get the bumper flush with the wing on the passenger side, i guess somethig has gone a bit funny with the nut or t30 thing, i;ve left it alone until i have some free time to take a further look

Might be the same problem I had. Although I now have another. Behind mum's Stilo is an evil wall that sticks out, and yes, I hit it today, has gone down the side of the car. If I wasn't taking friends to see King Kong I think I'd have just sat there and cried
