Hi Guys

When I bought my Stilo 5 years ago I only got one key from the dealer (the spare key) as the previous owner had lost the others. It has always bothered me only having one key, and not having a remote controlled central locking system. I pretty sure my Stilo has remote central locking as it has all other available upgrades.

Now I have been offered a complete locking system from a scrapped Stilo incl. 3 keys, (2 of them with remote) the key code papers, 3 locks and one ignition lock. To me it looks like the complete set.

My question; is this an operation I can do myself, or do I need FIAT to re-programmer the car for the new Keys? Changing the locks should be relatively easy, but I have no idea about the electronic issues I could encounter, i.g. changing the immobilizer to the new keys.

Does someone have any experience?

Ok, thanks. That is more or less what i expected, however changing ECU and body computer is not really anything i enjoy doing.

Im still curious if the keys are locked to the immobilizer, or if it can be reprogrammed?

your transponders belong to the bodycomputer and can't be reprogrammed again - the ecu can be virginised to relearn new immo data when it is changed so that's not a problem.
A good locksmith can make a new working transponder by using the data from your current bodycomputer - the new transponder can be fitted in a normal or remote key which then can be programmed to your car.
