I read lots of threds about going to a remap company and getting a remap done. What most companies in my country are doing is, they do a remap of one car, and the next is fitted with the same file. They have no Dyno testers for sure.
I have Galleto and ELM327 cables and I want to do it myself. I got some files from a friend and I hoped to download them to the ECU.
Instead, the effect was that after the upload, the engine did not started, the dasboard was like a cristmas tree, I started breathing heavilly :) and uploaded the old ECU (from backup). It worked again.
The Stilo is 1.9 JTD 115bhp 2002 5d.
I want to ask if you have tried a remap file from a friend if it will work on your car?

At the end: What are you paying for, if someone just uploads a file in your car and says "it now has 152bhp!"

The simple answer is no.

Most people the write the remap file make it ECU specific. Generic files can be written but they are not normally something that gets shared or remappers would soon be out of a job.

If you have the correct equipment, extract the file from your ECU and email it to a remapper. They can and will remap the file for you so its specific to your car. I've done this myself, only cost £80 but many companies will remap your file and email it back to you for a similar price.

Have a read of these threads.

I read both threads and my guess is that the car should also be the same year - 2002.
I have 2 files but I see the HW versions indeed are different from mine and I think this is the key.

I want to try a file from someone else with this year. I can send mine also.

Some years ago one of my forum friends said he does remapping with a software, WinECU (or something like that). I am trying to find it now without luck. I want to try to extract only the map files and try to compile a file.
