Has anyone had experience in fitting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to the Stilo Abarth engine? Being aware that the 2.4 20v lump has relatively limited scope for performance enhancement I am considering using an adjustable regulator to increase fuel pressure slightly, accompanied by induction and exhaust improvements.
However before I start messing with the fuel pressure I would be grateful for any educated opinions on the installation of an FSE boost valve or similar.
After a little on-line research I have formed this installation plan, any advice would be welcomed; (1) splice the fuel return line with a T-piece to allow reading of the current fuel pressure using a gauge. (2) Feed the high pressure inlet on my new valve with the return line from the engine. (3) Feed the tank side of the pipe to the return outlet on my new valve. (4) Splice the vaccum line exiting the inlet manifold by the dipstick with a T-peice to allow the new valves vaccum line to feed from manifold pressure. (5) Turn ignition to MAR and raise new pressure figure (how much being optimum I'm unsure so far).
Hope this is of interest to someone, am I on the right track..... ?

Sounds like a lot of scope to mess it up wouldnt a remap increase the fuel pressure?

Imo i would fit the induction kit and get it remapped at the same time so its not running lean.

Scope? lol. The only issue as I see it is ensuring fuel pressure is kept within a safe margin, easy enough with a gauge. I have fiat ecu scan software and could easily measure the torque output as I tease the pressure up to find the optimum output pressure, though ideal driveability will be found at a slightly lower pressure I reason. Remapping would obviously mean your running a richer mixture relative to engine speed, however if I'm understanding the function of the adjustable boost valve/regulator correctly its using the manifold pressure to force fuel away from the rail, not into it. Fit the valve correctly then remap ... then I would expect to notice a marked increase and performance. The induction and exhaust is now sorted.
Is there anyone out there with experience and practical understanding of exactly how using this adjustable valve can benefit my abarth engine.... Please . . .
