Have a stilo 1.4 16v engine in my cinq and just wondering if the 1.2 16v punto cylinder head will fit on the stilo block. They seem pretty similar. Are there any differences? Obviously manifolds will be swapped along with sensors, etc.

Any ideas?

I'm not 100% but I think they are the same.

Major differences happen with the 1.4 16v In the GP which has the Variator on the inlet cam and associated differences on the head.

Indeed. Was thinking that, but not sure how to find out other than taking the head off of mine,which im not going to do on the off chance.

Part codes for heads are different so no use there. I know the camshafts can be swapped and the inlets etc line up so would have thought so.

Punto sport forum said it would not fit, but wouldnt help any further as they must think im starting another 'will it fit engine thread'. I didnt mention the stilo engine however, so they prob thinking about variator.

Spare one for porting. Well at the moment i have the full stilo engine in the cinq. The 1.4 16v stilo engines are quite hard to get hold of let alone expensive. Then trying to find just the head. Ive managed to buy a 1.2 sporting head for £26 delivered, which i can take my time and port/polish. Then when its ready i can simply swap it over so the car is off the road for minimal time. Thats the long term plan anyway.

I heard the cam on the punto sporting is quite wild as standard. Wonder if it would be a bit of an upgrade over the 1.4 head. Have just won a 1.2 head thats already skimmed and had valves done for £26 delivered so one way to find out i suppose.
