Hi all, I'm back with fresh problems on my Selespeed Abarth.

This time, my car will not engage reverse gear. All 5 forward gears work fine in manual and automatic.

When I try reverse then it changes from manual to automatic on the dash and makes a crunching noise.

Anyone seen this before and if so how much did it cost?

I had the same issue on my old 156 selespeed, strangely i left the battery disconnected overnight and cleaned the MAF sensor with contact cleaner and then it engaged reverse straight away...

I wouldnt recommend doing the above but the best thing to do In moy opinion would be to invest around £15 in a vagcom 409.1 cable and grab a copy of the fiatecuscan program (see the sticky at the top) or from www.fiatecuscan.net.

That will come in useful in the future no doubt and will make diagnosing your issue much easier..

Does it double de-clutch before enguaging reverse?
