just had a good look around the stilo. on dash i have these msg's coming up- car security, asr failure, airbag failure, loose conection, spanner symbol. thats on the centre part whare time etc is shown.

also i have these lights on on rev counter bit an amber wheel with bits behind it, amber car with padlock through it, amber triangle with this mark in it (!)

car dont start but it does try was told ecu was (n)
and help or cheap fixed would be great, thanks all.

check connections on battery, alternator and the two big connecting blocks to the right hand side of engine, also could try leaving battery disconnected for a couple of hours, then reconnect and try again.

new battery in it, tried leaving battery off for an hour or so but they are still thare,
will go check alternator are the connection blocks the ones that go into the ecu?? cheers for quick reply...

yes blocks into ecu, unplug them, make sure there clean and reconnect.

FIXED AIRBAG FAILURE, was just the connection under the seat, checked ecu blocks look fine and clean,
heard alot about the d4 whare is this????
does anyone have a fuse diagram for the ones on top of the battery and behind it?? on mine their is quite a few empty spaces.

found the guide thanks. just got AA to check over it he said its the immobiliser. keys not being recognised, as the car with the padlock through it flashes then stays on.

Have you changed the battery in key? Does the central locking work via key? Has the car ever ran since you have put a new battery in it?

hi m8 i have had a few of the same problems that you are having mine were due to the battery cover under there there is a fuse board remove it clean everything fuses connectors use electrical cleaner not wd40 as wd is not for cleaning and dry it all with a hair dryer that fixed the security error and quite a few other strange anomalies door locks doing there own thing etc.

you can also clean the d4 behind the dash fuse box as this also suffers the same problem damp.

my airbag is the occupancy mat nothing you can do if its that other than replace or install and emulator same again clean all connectors under the seats glove box and in the boot..
my asr was down to the wrong size tyres on the front 50 profile and 95 on the rear they are all 95 and working fine. check the forum and maybe my post (major help needed) as i have covered and fixed all of these problems there.

i took off the plugs next to the battery just dry dirt around them except the brown plug it had a kinda gray powder on 2 or 3 of the holes and one pin looked quite rough compared to the rest. also their is a wire going to the bottom of it which the rubber has split and their a couple snapped a think copper rods,
airbag light fixed just moved wires around under pass seat and the light went out.

it wont start if you have the key n car light its a security symbol i had the same and engine light and asr and heater preheat loads all but 2 fixed under the bonnet take the fuse panel out top of battery take all fuses and all connection's off and clean them and dry them out repair any corroded connections...............

clean d4 inside the car behind the fuse box. this should fix those problems...

mine had stood with no battery cover for weeks and it rained causing all of these errors after a good clean and dry all fine.......

the airbag will probably return i would recommend removing the plugs grey orange. and cleaning them all bend the prongs slightly so they fit snug again.

these kinds of problems seem to be very common on fiats there is loads of info on the forum about all of these errors.

also if your electronic key ever dosent work there is a way of turning the security off it explains how to do it in the owners hand book.so you can get home nice ov fiat lol.....

i dare bet its just a damp or loose connection

mine would not start when the security symbol was on the dash.........even if they look OK still give them a blast with electrical connection cleaner £4 hall-fords.

whoopssss

i said behind the fuse box in the car. it is in fact under the fuse board to of battery as Davren has pointed out.

lol found it ok, used cleaner as you said dried with hairdryer, asr car security and loose connection faults still their, any other ideas or is it a new ecu or just keys coded to immobiliser??

could be ecu
i will have a look in my owners and get the sequence used to turn off the mobiliser security in case your fob ever breaks and post it here for you.

if the security is then still on i may then think the ecu i did however read on this forum about a connector that all the plugs go into some-ware behind the dash this can have problems cant remember what is was called.

here you go if it works then you will probably just need a new fob.

emergency start...

1 read the 5 figure electronic code you have it on your code card with the car.

2 turn ignition to MAR.

3 press and hold down the accelerator the warning engine symbol turns on for 8 seconds and then goes off. at this point release the accelerator pedal and get ready to count the flashes of the engine symbol warning light.

4 count the number of flashes that corresponds to the first figure of the code on your CODE card then press the accelerator. keep it there untill the warning symbol comes on for 4 seconds and then goes off release the accelerator.

5 the warning light will start flashing again after it has flashed the second figure of the CODE card press the accelerator again and hold it do the same again for the remaining numbers on your CODE card.

6 once the final figure has been entered keep the pedal down the warning symbol will will light up for 4 seconds and then go out release the pedal.

7 rapid flashing of the warning light for 4 seconds confirms the operation was successful.

8 start your car turn from MAR to AVV

if however the light stays on turn off the ignition and start again from 1.

got it started well kinda lol it was a 7.5amp fuse on the box behind the battery, changed that asr loose connection security failure all gone but now management light is on lol, car does turn over but it's rough ma mate thinks it's the timing out,
he aslo done a diagnostics, comes up with oxygen sensor failure injectors 1,2,3,4 failure, crank sensor failure, and the sensor that goes in th the top of the engine near the sparks, going to take them off and give them a clean hopefully it'll sort them out..
