this is my ride height.. its about 100mm i think

From what I've heard and indeed seen, the lighter engined 1.2 will always drop by less on the Sportlines or other 50mm springs than others due to said lightness of the engine. Noticed that with mine as well. Doesn't look too odd though and getting slightly larger alloys will help it look better too (OEM probably, not aftermarket).

With regards to speedbumps, I don't "attack" them at the same speed I used to, but have never even come close to scraping the front or back. And never had issues elsewhere like multi story car parks.

Heavier engined cars like the Abarth and JTD, which'll go lower on the springs may well have some issues though.

For reference, here's mine...

you didn't tell him your drop size.. :yum:

As muppet42 points out it's stupid to refer to a 100mm drop unless you specify which engine you have.

Drop a Multiwagon by 100mm and you'll have no problems with speed-bumps at all as it will be sitting on the tarmac :ROFLMAO:

In any case, as already said, unless you also change your dampers as coyle has done then you'll end up with a lowered car with the most crap handling ever :yuck:

Surely that low you can't use full lock? Which can't be good! First time you forget you ruin you wheel arch, liner, tyre wheel potentially! Your tyres are actually buried in the wheel arch, so if you drive around a tight 90 degree bend, understeer for whatever reason and apply some more lock and then hit a bump your going to careering into a ditch with your wing flying past you!

it actually full locks left and right with no problems at all..
the tyres fitted are 205 40 17, and have a good bit of stretch aswell,
so there is no issue at all

Sportline's are meant to lower the front 50mm and back 30mm. However, due to the lovely Fiat dealership fitting JTD springs to the front of mine when a spring snapped, I think the actual lowering of mine was something like 80mm and 30mm from what it had been sitting at. Given all the issues I had when I lowered it (evil bolts), I forgot to check the before and after  :D

So what coilovers and drop would you guys recomend for a 1.6. I dont get a great deal of time to frequent these sections so sorry im not up on whats hot and not. I want to notice a marked improvment in the body roll, not bottom out on speed bumps and still have the option for bigger alloys. Will dubs fit if i drop by 80 and roll the arches or spacers and 18's. Oh and i normally ride with a large amount of ICE. I can have anything from 50-120kg in the boot and have so far used 7 8kg sheets of deadening with more to go. Cheers guys.

Don't know for the front, but lowering the rear by 30 mm will be adequate, as 100 kilos extra will drop it by 50 mm, and still have a working coil.

I've tested it with tiles in the boot...

my boot is full of ice..
and my rear is lowered the most it can possibly be lowered with any suspension kit, and it doesnt rub...im on 17 x 8.5j
however i tryed to fit 30mm spacers, and it nearly wripped my tyre up in 50metres, so they came straight off..

there in the garage if anyone wants to buy them, hubcentric aswell

Rim width, diameter and size in general - it all comes down to offset.

High/deep offset might require spacers, like putting a Ritmo Abarth 130 TC 14" alloy to a 1.1 ie Uno require 25 mm spacers to achieve correct tracking width.

Also remember that the rear body of the Stilo is offset the axle itself... by some strange reason. Measuring the length from the outer wing to tire on the left side will not match the lengt on the right side.

thats why when i had spacers on it was only the back right that rubbed (n)

Thats not heavy :D ATM mine is actually quite light....Buuuut still i would imagine that just the sound deadening in the rear of my car weighs close to your build. Then if i decide to put in something like the stroke again which with the box weighs about the same as me then i am in trouble.
I have been trying to decide what to do for ages perhaps a couple of pics might help (y) Thank you all for your help.
So coyle spacers are out of the question. :bang: Looks like i may have to get some work done on the arches which poses another problem. I will soon be embarking on a road noise mission so working on the arches will allow more noise through

OK a couple of pics

This is how it sits as standard right now.

This is how much is in the boot with a fair bit more building. There are 2 more amps in there that you cant see them, so the added weight will be restricted to Birch ply and Fibreglass until i add a couple of different amps.

I've filled the boot with bricks, tiles, and concrete (powder) until I rode the bumpstops. This was on the OEM setup.

I've also done the exact same thing over again - but then after I had fit the Eibach suspension (30 mm drop including matched dampers). It was still going strong, and the ride height was higher than previous time - so the steel quality or whatever must be much better.

The car handles extremely well now, when being 5 adults and the boot loaded with luggage. Female suitcases tend to wheigh at least 30 kilos each. :D

Hail to Eibach springs and dampers. :worship::worship::worship:
