Today i went to top up my 2002 Abarth and noticed a whiteish emulsion inside the cap. I have not noticed this before, all i do know is i've been told never to buy a car with emulsion in the oil cap:eek:
Should i be worried?
Another problem, i'm not sure it's connected, is sometimes it kangaroo's when cold (i think this is to do with the solonoids):bang:
Is it time to get rid? It's done about 60k, but i don't want to get another car:cry:

Yes, but the design of the Stilo's filler tube makes it condense in the cold weather and it looks like a major HG failure from both the cap and filler tube. It goes away during springtime.

Agreed. The cold weather ad short journeys will create the white mayonaisse on the inside of the oil cap... it's not the head gasket. To test, do a long journey and check afterwards... if it's still there, then it's the head gasket but I bet it gone (y)

As for the kangarooing, do a search for "kangarooing" and you'll find a thread where I cured mine (y)

My started this about 6 weeks ago and last week the head gasket went big time, its away at Avantis in Ipswich at the moment, they they got the head off although the gasket wasn't in good shape it was a broken seal around the piston (on the head) that had broke up causing the failure, getting the cam belt done at the same time, it will cost me in the region of £700 to put it right. Hope yours don't go like mine did, if in doubt have a pressure test done to confirm ether way.
