HI !

First post, had the stilo (1.6 multiwagon) for a year now and been through the usual stilo issues, brake light, airbags (fixed thanks to guide on this forum!) and various solnoid/electrical problems but all been fixable.

This new one however is beyond me!

Initially my brakes started to behave like the discs were warped, getting a rattly feeling in the pedal when depressing it in. When the rattly feeling kicked in i got the errors

ASR unavailible consult handbook (ABS light stays on solid)
ABS unavailible consult handbook (ASR light stays on solid)

Slightly unusually, i seemed to get the warped disc sensation when cornering and braking but never when travelling straight and braking. It then progressed to when pushing in the pedal, the pedal would go hard but not brake, releasing pressure from the pedal and reapplying would then start normal braking (very scary the first time)
I put it to the garage to check as i was suspicious it was more than just the discs at fault. They confirmed warped discs so i just changed these out myself and put in new pads on both front wheels. Problem however persists, just like before except the rattly feeling only occurs rarely.

Everytime i start car i get the above two error codes each time. On occasions i start the car and they dont appear but hitting the brakes or turning the steering wheel will however generate the error messages without pulling away.

Any thoughts on this are much appreciated if this one becomes another big bill job its the end of my fiat ownership days  (after a history of 126, 127, fiat uno, fiat tipo and stilo!). Of to a citreon garage tommorow to have a look.

On another note, my battery packed in last week, tried three from local supplier before it would work. #1 lesson for fiat stilo battery is dont skimp on cost, nothing short of a bosch would work for me now runs perfect. Supplier was good with returns thankfully!

Good question, should have included that info!

The warning lights are continuing as normal and the car was in the drive with no battery for 3 days.

i had something similar when i had a dodgy earth point. check this (under battery tray) and battery voltage too.

you never know how simple it may be

Well i went to the citreon garage but just couldn't go through with it....

Kinda fond of the stilo despite its charming little niggles.

So a new wheel sensor and tyres and its running like a dream!
