Hello again.

Tried the search but couldn't find any answers. I am going to tint the rear door windows. Yes, it is a 5 door. But I can't get them out... Inner panel is removed, and the glass is unclipped at the bottom. I've not removed the subframe (have done it before after a wire issue during winter frost).

Could anyone tell me what to do

Give up and buy the blinds  cant help you sorry mate havnt had the pleasure as yet and its a long way by boat to give you a hand :(

Not going to give up on this one. I just need to find a way to remove the upper trim / rubber, and the window is just to pull out. The design of it doesn't allow it to rotate out and into place, yet one of the lower (forward) corners are 45 degrees. Will see tomorrow I guess. Maybe I have to remove layer by layer to get access.

I need a drawing of it perhaps...

Searched around a bit for you Morten as not all of us have the classic 5 door version:)

You need to drop the window right down and pull back the channelling enough to get to the 3 securing screws to remove the outside trim
window scraper.JPG
You need to remove the outside sealing strip
retaining spring.JPG
Then with the window about 1/2 up so you can see through the viewing window in the door, you release the window securing spring clip and then pull up the window
Of course, you need the inner trim removed but you've managed that already by the sounds of it

Excellent Decks. It was just as I thought then... Some layers of rubber to remove to get into the boiling point. The outside sealing strip is propably a bastard to get off - still having memories from the trusted old Uno. Which ofcourse was a 5 door. Ah... memories.

Tomorrow morning I will give it a shot. Thank you for the illustrations.

Just when I was starting the removal, Thor went bananas with Mjolner and sent a big thundersky right on top of me with a fantasillion drops of heavy rain.

Anyway... it seems I have to work on the rearmost end of the rear door, as the window only comes 3/4 down, and prevents me from accessing the 3rd (lower) screw. On the other side I get access though.

I also think I will be able to remove the upper rubber / window catch in the process, and just slide the window straight up. Will proapbly have to wait another day as rain will fade to black dusk soon.

Thanks again Decks for the illustrations. I would never have found those well hidden screws without it.

Easy fix....get a 3dr and you dont have any back doors to worry about ;)

I've found this to be nearly impossible. My earlier theory of pulling the glass straight up is binned. The glass itself is retained with a plastic clip (familiar to these) in the channeling / trim. This prevents me from sliding the window sideways after unclipping the pulley clip. And also I can not drop the window far enough down to access the lower screw (2a from Decks ill.) It is no problem to remove the 3 screws on the opposite side though, but that didn't help at all.

Time for lunch.

There must be a way. They dont build the cars with the windows in. If you are really stuck, you could try a bit of info scrounging from some local window places or even a FIAT dealer.

I haven't tried FIAT yet, but I've phoned some local window'ers and they say:

"Stilo? what, you mean Seat."
"No, Fiat".
"What Fiat".
"Stilo".
"Stilo? Is that a truck? Never heard of it".

"It's the same size of a 307 / A3".
"A Fiat?"

Bunch of monkeys. Will try Fiat tomorrow then, but I have a feeling the history will repeat itself - if I call the local Fiat reseller here (and that is why I don't use them, but drives 200 km to service the car at another Fiat garage.)

Morten.

I have a very good raport with the tech head at my local FIAT dealer (I referred work to him and bug him all the time). If you want, I can call him for you.

That would be fantastic. I too, have a tech head I call to at a FIAT garage / dealer (the one 200 km away), but he had to pass this one, as glass work was put out to glass specialists. You know, the ones I mentioned above...

I have not attached the door panels yet, in case I woke up one morning with a genious plan attacking my brain. But that morning still has to come, as the only thing I wake up to is headache.

The subframe is not removed. I did remove that earlier, but can not see how the window ever could come out there.

If you could offer a couple of minutes on the phone I'd be very happy. :worship:

Regards, Morten.

Hello again. Will take a picture tomorrow, but I'll try to explain. (Wind down windows). The windows go down the same length. They both stop due to the wheel arches (they are 45 degrees cut I assume).

The window is not square. It is about 90 degrees on the B pillar, but off angle at the C pillar. This reveals the whole rubber and plastic shielding on the C pillar when the window is rolled down. Thus giving access to the 3 screws.

The window itself is attached with a white plastic clip inside the rubber/plastic on the B pillar to make it go straight up and down, and not wave sideways when lowered or rised (center is the window riser clip). If I could only prise this plastic clip out of the framing, I could propably reach the lower screw on the B pillar side by moving the glass sideways. But I am afraid to brake it. These plastic clips are molded into the glass - the glass has most likely a drilled hole in it where this clip attaches. It's like this on both the Uno and the Ritmo.

Here are pictures.

This one shows the inside of the door. Max lowered window.

B pillar side. This is where the white plastic clip is attached. No access to the 3rd screw as it is behind the glass.

Here there is access to all 3 screws, but that does not help.

Anyway. I did give up and mounted the door cards again.

Alright! I've finally done it - window out, tinted and reinserted. I will present a guide for the rear door dismantling and window removal - aswell as how to tint it in some days. The 5-door looks great with rear tint...

You chav..:nerner: god thats an old thread..you took two years to get a window out when a brick could have done it in minutes..

It's' my thread, and I like it... :D

I've tried every summer for 3 years now. And yes, a brick would have solved it. But also a lot of shattered glass, and the need for removing the inner door card metal sheet to gain access for the vacuumer.

The smallest kid is very satisfied with it, as 75% direct sunlight (and heat) is absorbed now. Insurance drops aswell, as it is more difficult to see what's inside. And ofcouse, it looks damn cool. You aren't too old to understand that Phil :p - dig deep down and pull out the italian stallion inside you.
