Now checking the wires down to the sensor...there is one dodgy looking (original) connector in the run of wires, so have done the wiggle test, sprayed it with WD40 (& the sensor) See if that does anything. Rear washer tube re-connected, now why doesn't the wiper work....!
Oh & the screen cracked in a bizarre upside down "U" on the way from Manchester.

Found a new sensor in Italy...part price ok, but cost to send exorbitant. I don't think Italians like to send things outside Italy! I hope it sorts the problem....wait & see.

International shipping has increased. In the USA the cost of international shipping has virtually doubled. The cost of international shipping from GB isn't cheap these days. So the Italian postal service isn't much more expensive than from France or Germany. It depends on size, weight, what item is etc. Saying that, I can receive an item from Germany in less time that it takes for something posted second class the same day in GB. The Germans are always more efficient than us here in GB.

Re: Low mileage 60S

Although i agree with your sentiment that parts from mainland europe often arrive before parts you order in the UK, i think thats often down to the seller more than anything else. Usually anything from overseas comes through Royal Mail so to blame them for the uk shops not getting here sooner is not really fair. Royal Mail is a joke, don't get me wrong, i know i worked there lol.
Alot of UK sellers use alternative couriers too, I don't blame them as they are usually cheaper the Royal Mail but alot of them are terrible at getting your stuff to you quick. And I would say as well if you pay for tracking with royal mail and it goes missing I've never had an issue with getting my money back or what not. Same can't be said about alot of couriers, they just tell you it was delivered either way and if you say it hasnt they side with their staff that its been delivered and pretty much tell you to go away.

Part arrive promptly (by Royal Mail!)now to see if that is the problem. A bit busy with Austin Sevens at the moment.
Interesting fact (to me anyway!) - when I renewed my Admiral multicar policy Mrs H's Punto Cabrio it came out at about 190 & the 60 at 544 ! (same drivers etc!) I did not take up this offer...they were as bemused as me...and I took out a one car policy through Hastings at 145. All the rest of the Admiral quotes were very good. Weird.
I am keeping the car as a runabout so will tidy up a few "issues" like a new exhaust! Also now looking for a replacement aerial base etc (I replaced the Cabrio one some years ago) they go crumbly with age it seems, but Mk1 bases seem to have disappeared from ebay! Any ideas? Is Mk2 really different?

Re: Low mileage 60S

We took out a new policy for our Cabrio, as we bought a Fiat 500 as a daily car and transferred our existing policy. I used a comparison website (confused.com) and automatically got a classic car policy quote of 67, considerably cheaper than we had been paying and no need for any NCB.

Interesting. I tried the 60 (& the Cabrio), with my classic insurer (Hagarty)but they were a bit sniffy about the cars being regularly used (!)
