Hi all
I am writing to check some information. I had aborrowed Punto 60 Sx 1999 from a friend and some scroat tried to steal it. Now have damaged ignition, ie the ignition key unit is smashed. The cost of professional repair is uneconomic so to reimburse friend I am considering buying the car outright and fixing it up for myself.
So if all goes well I'll be a Fiat owner again!! Have driven a 126 in the far past and loved that one.
I was hoping that someone here might have answers to some basic questions
So as far as I can gather I need a new ECU/Code box/Ignition Lock & key. which I can get from a local scrap yard.
Would that be all thats likely to be needed?
Edit Doh!
This is the guide for me. So only the question about the steering column remaining
https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/219588-mk1-punto-replace-ecu-code-box.html
If the steering column (from the universal joint to the steering wheel) is damaged is that a scrapyard replacement ( I am wondering if there is potential engine management unit issues) or is that on later Mks.
Cheers,
John
