Hey all,

I've just done an engine conversion on my punto, gt to gt as last engine died. the new engine came from a running car.

But now its in the new shell, I can get it started, but it dies straight away, if i unplug the crank sensor connector it won't start.

Have checked all the connections and earths and all seem fine

Need help asap

Thanks
Ben

It'll never start if you undo the crank sensor. The crank sensor tells the ECU (amongst other things) that the engine is running. If no signal, the ECU won't fire the injectors or the coils (engine isn't rotating, so no need.)

No real ideas. You might try waggling the TDC lead while your beautiful assistant cranks the motor. If it ever runs under such encouragement either you really are a magician or it confirms a crank sensor fault.

I know unplugging the crank sensor will stop to starting, but I've had to bridge an ignition live to the starter and fuel pump just to get those to go.

I'll have a go at the tdc wire, worth a try

Have also read that the starter could cause the issue, if it's too tight again the flywheel??

I've got a feeling the dash loom is what's to blame, as previous owner has played about with it, to sake cutting his carbon door cards
