As you can all see, I am new to these forums! So "hello".

I recently got myself a little MK1 Punto Selecta from a friend for £100! It needed a little bit of work to get it throgh the MOT but I managed to do it and now have it on the road.

My next thing on the list is to give it a good service, including all fluids.

I have managed to purchase everything, I would just like it if someone could confirm what fluid is needed for the PAS and the Automatic Gearbox?

I think it should just be Dexron II for both, but not too sure?

I've had a look on the forum and done a search but can't find anything for definite.

Yes ATF is fine in both, you can get automatic longlife oil but its expensive.

i strongly suggest that if you do not get the definative answer off someone then do one of two things
ask at the fiat dealer
leave it if it runs right
unusual box these so you dont really want to be creating issues out of non issues, i appreciate you are going for betterment but this might not be the case
i had an auto nissan last year needed a topup cvt and the forums of the world were divided between standard dexron and special nissan fluid with bits in
i went for the nissan fluid with added bits in in the end even though i still have 4 litres rotting away here at work at great expanse im glad i did because the car never came back

2 would do it for a mk1 box, best to do a full oil and filter change thow as its probliy neva been changed. You cant mix dexton VI with other oils s n b i know that as i have seen it done. Also ur power streeing is it electric?

nope but if you buy 5 ltrs for the box you should have enough left for the pas i think

as said buy 5 litres should only be about £15 from a factors
fill up bottle
start engine
turn steering to right
fill up bottle
turn steering to left
fill up bottle
repeat till system full
dont go full full lock
take your time
put front wheels on some mags to aid turning if you wish

why do you want to do the fluid anyway?
unless somethings been changed or ma put water in there then its good for life

Just check with fiat about the gearbox oil if it's a
CVT type gearbox normal dexron will kill it.

CVT gearbox oil is special as the oil solidifies
under pressure of the metal belt on the pullies
and helps the metal belt grip.

so CHECK first or scrap the car afterwards.

Yes, use ONLY the special oil in the CVT (Speedgear) transmission models.
Tutela CVT NG It costs around £12 Litre.
Dont trust a Fiat dealer though, I had arguments with our local Fiat agent and they insisted that you can use normal auto fluid. I took in details to prove it but they would not admit they were wrong but said they would look into it and ring me......they didn't of course!
You can use Nissan cvt oil or even one made for Subaru (They designed the box).
