It would be worth running with rad flush chemical and distriiled water for a few days. I fno leaks flush it out and refill with proper coolant.

It sounds daft to deliberately risk causing a leak, but the hole would already be there and the dirt plug could fll out at any time so best to find out before it blows and causes engine damage.
