Hi all,

can anyone pls tell me if my 1.2 16v 2001 punto has an idle control valve, and if yes were is it pls? My car is working fine but sometimes cuts off when i am applying the break, and sometimes turns off when starting the car without pressing the gas pedal.

no........idle controlled by motorised throttle flap & stepper motor.

Thanks for the info. By any chance, do you know what could be wrong, why the car turns off sometimes when I disengage the gear?

I would say its some kind of Fuel problem, but then again if Puntos had a ICV a sticky one would cause this, so maybe some kind of Throttle Body problem, it could be the Fuel Pump happens when they wear out, under braking or pressing the clutch the fuel pump stops pumping fuel cause the revs drop which then cut off the engine.

First things i would try though change HT lLeads, try Injection Cleaner through the tank incase you have a dirty injecter or fuel line blockage..
