As per Darth Punto's post - my 2000 punto's struggling with the cold starts.

It only just starts first time (so slow to turn over im amazed it starts)
and the other thing is its very hard to change gear until the cars warmed up(i'm assuming this is because the clutch is hydraulic and not a cable and the oil is cold)

Does anyone else suffer these winter symptoms? - especially the clutch???

Hi,

We have a 2002 Punto and the battery is useless and is very slow to turn the engine over in winter. If I leave it a couple of days, it is flat.

I am going to the garage next week for a service and I will INSIST on a new battery.

bobbyt, has the battery ever been changed on the car? If not, it's about the age where it would probably need it's first new battery.

I don't know if this is just a Punto thing, bobbyt, but my 55SX's gearbox also feels a bit stiff when cold, especially 1st gear. I think it's more likely to be due to the gearbox oil being very thick when it's cold than anything to do with the clutch. My car's on its second 'box now and both of them did the same thing, anyone else's Punto do the same?

Yeah the Punto box definitely gets slicker the warmer it is. Last night I left a mates at 1:30am with frost on the windscreen and had very clunky changes for a few miles.

Thought as much, since mine frees up nicely once it's been going for 10 mins or so. Just another of those lovely Punto "features" I suppose! :D
