I've just replaced the alternator in my Punto. The old one still works, just not very well and I had trouble starting the car during the winter months. I think it's just worn bushes.

Is there anywhere I can send it or some one I can sell it to that can get a use out of it? It would be a shame to just throw it away. Is it worth me selling it on eBay?

It's come off a 118000 mile Punto MK2B 1.2 L 16v Active sport (no air-con). 60 Amp model. Part number 46530261 by DENSO.

Cheers.

Why didn't you get it reconditioned to start with and save yourself a lot of money! I've jut had my starter and alternator reconed for my cabrio.

Incorrect, mine had bearings and brushes, bit more on starter as it was bad, Most decent places give a warranty as well. Anyway if all it needs are brushes why buy a new one?

One reason for changing the whole unit is time. If you need to get the car back on the road it can make more sense to buy a recon unit and fit it rather than run the risk of having a car in bits and finding it's not just the regulator / brush pack or the parts you have don't fit. It's not so bad if you have access to another car, but not everyone does.
