Fog light diy

Hi there, in my punto mk2a active there is no fog light wiring, i have an aftermarket fog loom, headlights and the dash panel with front fogs that light on dash, just wondering if anyone knows what wires are for the front fog light switch so i can use the standard switch??

Any ideas will be appreciated

Re: Fog light diy

Start with actuation tests on multiecu body computer tests will allow you to turn the front fog light dash lamp on and off, you'll need this to ensure that the lights will work and be legal, if that works then move on to changing he switches.

After that you'll need to work out where the front fog relay is or should be and start wiring in from there

Re: Fog light diy

if you dont have the fuse + relay socket pre wired - then good luck

Tbh i do think it'd be 10x easier to just wire it in manually - have it controlled via the headlight's been on or off - then a switch and relay

So
Headlights Off - Switch off = No fogs
Headlights Off - switch on = No fogs
Headlights On - Switch on = Fogs
Headlights On - Switch off = No Fogs

I know most cars allows on via sidelights only, but number people who think fog lights and sidelights allows you to see - IT DONT
ffs - use your headlights as they intended

Tbh - i wouldnt bother with Fogs..... There scatter lights anyway, not ideal for fog

Fog lights shud be a low level FOCUSED light beam
Alot are scatters and tbh there pointless

Re: Fog light diy

I was wondering, if i found out the earthing wires, i should be able2 probe each set with small cotter pin, to activate a closed switch, and the light should come on dash witch is selected, then i would just need to splice into the positive wire my positive for relay to power the fog lights ( i have baught an after market fog light wiring kit for £7, are my theorys correct?

Hello!

Anyone owning a fog lamp, could you please take a photo of the relay? It is located underbonnet fuse/relay box, R14 relay.
Thank You in advance!

Re: Fog light diy

Everyone, who owns an original fog lamp (inside the main headlamps). Please post your opinions about the factory fogs. Is it worth getting them? I would mainly use it for extra light with the dipped, only if it doesn't blind other drivers at night.
So would it add extra light from the driver's point of view? Maybe a photo of the image of the fog lights of yours?

They are called FOG LIGHTS
for a reason

They are to help you to be seen IN FOG
No other time they should be on

Fog lights dont tend to put any light down on the road on the mk2's
Even the Mk2b's are pretty much pointless down to a point when it comes to fog lights.... If anything i've stated before, having Decent Daytime lights which produce a narrow band light (vs fog which are mostly scatter lights now) will have a much better effect at been seen

They really dont help you too see if its that foggy

When my brother got married 'up North' the fog was so bad I had my head out of the window to look at the wheels while somebody else was driving. The punto fog lights do light up the ground a bit in front of the car so might have enabled us to drive in those conditions that day. Possibly.

It was very foggy after my brother's stag as well. None of the other drivers seemed too bothered though

Re: Fog light diy

There is a button on the dashboard
It makes the lights point down not up
(handy when the cars full so you not blinding other road users too!)

Lower light tends to help a little
Fog lights DONT make it disapppear / make it better to see

Re: Fog light diy

Anyone with fog lights, could you please post a photo of the back cover of the lamp? where you change the bulbs. I would like to see the inside and outside connectors of the fog light on that cover. Thank you!
