Hi. Newbie here although I'm old lol
Was wondering what software you guys use?
I've got the Torque app on my phone and bluetooth adapter.
Not picked up the Punto yet so can't confirm if it works yet

I dont have a bluetooth adapter on my naff netbook. Probably need one

Torque for my phone and multiecuscan for my pc.

Torque serves me as a quick roadside aid or a monitor for long road trips.

Multiecuscan is the go to tool for helping diagnose anything wrong. It's the only thing out there I can find which can connect to all the various ecus and actuate functions on the car. Great bit of software.

Hi,
A USB OBD adaptor is more reliable than bluetooth so is recommended for functions that can mess up the car if interrupted. I use Multiecuscan with a USB ELM 327 adaptor. The ELM has both CAN and KL line interfaces, the KKL / Vagcom interface only have KL line so will not connect to all modules. If you get an ELM 327 on ebay or amazon, make sure it is "modified". There is a design flaw in most of the Chinese ELM 327 units. They put a 120 ohm resistor across the CAN bus, this needs to be removed.
Multiecuscan is not the only software for Fiats, there is also AlfaOBD that has a good following. I prefer MES, but probably because I used it first. AlfaOBD gives more access to the key and security systems, but this also means you can mess the system up if you are not careful. I do use AlfaODB with a tablet and bluetooth adaptor for "on the move" monitoring.

what can you do with AlfaOBD that you cant with mes?

AlfaOBD allows access to the security system e.g. key programming. Exact access and functions depends on car model. I think MES may be adding this, but don't know for sure. There are possible concerns with legality, if somene uses your software to steal a car are you an accomplice?, and the fact that users can easiy delete all their keys and make the car unusable.

thats a dilemma, same for hackers that make programs which are then sold usually for illegal reason that can steal your personal info, ofcourse hackers have no connection with what those guys that bought the software will do with it but in legal eyes they are breaking the law and will go in jail
