Technical Attaching handbrake cable

Hey folks...

Just had my Punto through the NCT (Ireland's MOT) and I have a few issues to sort out to get it to pass - most of which are very easily sorted.

One problem they pointed out was that the handbrake cable on the driver's side is hanging down just in front of the back tyre... when I checked it seems as though there's a bolt missing which would hold the clip on the cable itself to the underside of the car.

Would anyone happen to have a picture or diagram of how this should look, just so I know I'm doing it properly.

I'd imagine it's fairly straight forward, but just want to make sure it's done right!

just use zip tie

There should be a flexible bit of metal which holds it down
However they snap due to rot
As a result the cable hangs off

You can cable tie it on
Bond/glue some thin metal strip on but that could fall off too

I've found that cable ties can cut their way slowly through the cable sheath.

I put a bit of fibre reinforced tubing over it first, then cable tie. Works fine.
