G3 it mate, and it will come up proper shiny,

My dad has the whole g3 range, have used it few times and very impressed!

This time I just gave it a quick wash and a quick detail as the weather didn't permit a full wax,

Anyway more important things coming up, such as the timing belt, etc tomorrow! :) will be glad to get that out the way!

What's so easy to mess up with it then?

Let's hope they do have them!

Spent most of today flushing and changing the oil, along with the filters..which looked like they hadn't been changed since 2002

also mid way through treating the sump,

A couple things I did notice while under the car were that there are a few loose bolts, for example the lambda sensor was literally hanging out, there's also a bolt that holds the exhaust on near the gearbox area and that is loose..actually there was a bolt that goes through the gearbox that has some play!

But what I noticed straight away was as i attempted to remove the sump plug was that the engine rocks like mad! I can physically see it rotating on the gearbox mount, the dog bone? Must be fubared!

so i ask, are these easy to replace?

looks like it's putting quite a bit of stress and pressure on the flexi too

Dog bone/engine mount removal,

What you need is :

2x 19mm Ring spanner's.
1X 18mm Socket,

1x very strong breaker bar, find some pole for more lever'age eg, (scaff/bar/table leg -what ever you can find,)

This is a job for some ramps ithink,

if the 18mm bolt dont come out easily or bolt feels like its twisting put tools away and take it to a garage, the bolt can be a mare to get out, if it snaps your fudged :(

if all goes well, copper grease the bolt before refitting it will make the job easier if mount ever needs replacing again,

forgot to add,

just try 18mm bolt first, if it loosen's off carry on and change it,
if it dont then find a good garage localy, go in when its quiet and
ask them to loosen it off, sometimes handing over a tenner or so for a 5 min job
has to be done,

ok thanks, I can get access to some ramps..weather dependant :bang:

will give the bolt a go, used to working with seized bolts on this car..

EDIT: I was thinking if it doesn't budge, I could grind the end off the bolt, release the dogbone, then maybe heat up to red hot, let cool slightly and grip....hopefully the heat will allow it to be gripped with vice rather than the bolt head?

Thanks

No.. leave grinder alone,

the bolt goes through mount then up into subframe,

Your not working with seized bolts here...its just abolt that gets megga wound in
with Thor's hammer, or it may as well have been, :D

No Bodges here mate, do it properly & take your time, :D

haha ok then, was just thinking outside the box :D

need to get hold of a mount, then I will tackle this (y)

While waiting for other parts and money to come in, thought I'd clean the throttle body out

Before and after, turned out ok :)
