2005 55 plate mk2b front subframe

Seems fiat like all manufacturers use sub standard materials in their run out models, this subframe should never have a hole in it at this age/ mileage, rest of car has no corrosion at all just this localised subframe corrosion,be aware if thinking of a purchase as its not allowable to weld it under mot rules so it has to be replaced which i guess wouldnt be cheap to do

Looks like the whole thing has rotted out, so no point, anyway. I'd think it had no paint or rust prevention treatment at all!

Who says? The damn thing was welded in the first place, so why the hell not?

Where you been man? Nice to see a post (y)

Subframe already changed
My mot station refused to allow me to weld it and insisted it was replaced,i note they failed a lateish plate hyundai last week for the same problem so understand they are protecting both their reputation and their business interests and i understand and am happy to comply with their high standards of mot testing
i guess they would have gone down the mot inspection manual section 6.1 part c as reason of deliberate modification as further reason for failure if i had repaired it after the initial fail
For the record on this occasion i felt a proper localised proper repair would have been in order and would have done it if i had not missed it on my pre mot inspection but thats why i like to pay for a second opinion
