I'll try to measure it later for you...

I sprayed my new one with standard VHT from a tin, I'll check on it later

That would be grand! Best time to check as well - since the heat means it doesn't get a nice cool blast

Used a Halfrauds VHT (650c) but it didnt last long

I did rush the prep work and didnt use a primer, so that could explain alot....

As VHT do a primer, colour, lacq in there 1100c range, but its £25....

Here are a few temperatures:

Manifold 240 degC
Manifold heatshield 170degC
Cam cover 100 degC

You can expect higher with the engine driven harder.

But it means that VHT paint should be fine. Mine still looks good a few weeks after applying to a new maniverter.

These temperatures were measured after 1/2 hour drive with the engine still idling.

Also, you might wanna prep it correctly as you have already mentioned, I.e. prime and apply a couple of coats of the paint.

The reason I say this is because I have just applied paint that claims to hold upto 650, but after one 1 hour drive, the paint has burnt off in one area (although this is probably due to me not applying primer and also only one coat).

Hope this helps your paint stick better :p
