Can someone help me pick a proper turbo rebuild kit since I have punto 1.9JTD 2002. I want to rebuild it since it is throwing some oil into hose. I was looking at ebay but they are many and I am not sure which one to pick. Any help would be appreciated.

I am assuming they used only one type of turbo in these cars on 1.9 JTD engine otherwise I would have to go and unbolt mine to check which one is it.

A few manufacturers/re-manufacturers have on-line catalogues of what car (and what year) ran what turbo. Or you'll find it stamped on the side of the turbo.

But, unless you've done it before, (preferably under training or at someone else's expense!) I'd not try and fit a rebuild kit. The potential to destroy the turbo is pretty high if you get it out of balance.

A rebuild is a fine art - it has to be perfectly balanced and perfectly true

A turbo will literally smash an engine if something goes wrong....

Avoid 2nd hand - you cant tell what life its had
Ie thrashed to hell when cold and then just switched off?

Or has it been coaked up for months because a granny drives it?

My advice - if the turbo is gone, get an OE version or a manufactors turbo
But turbo's = money

Or get it remanufactured -- way cheaper and with a guarantee.

you wont get a turbo to be balanced without factory spec equipment
thing of an out of balance propshaft but worse

if you have good relations with poland i suggest you look there for a replacement
they are buying most european cars that are damaged and are now getting to saturation point so deal might be good

What's that all about? Are they reconditioning for home market, or for re-export?

I've seen them stripping engines at local scrappies

their home market apparently is getting to saturation with golden goodies from our shores

I'm hanging onto my golden oldie....
