how do you touch up faded paint after you've removed the badges and rub strips?

the paint wont be faded under the badge that will still be daisy fresh
you need to cut the surrounding paint to match the under badge stuff
usually a problem with red
impossible if car yellow

okay thanks but how come the paint under the badge is pink and my car is cherry red?
Photos would help but could be the pink is an base primer with red topcoat. When you took badges off was there any red/pink paint on the back of badge? As i am a car sprayer have known badges/rubber trims that have been stuck on over freshly painted panels can sometimes take the paint off if they are removed again!!!!

because the paint under the badge is actually stock red if you polish it
your cherry is the colour red puntos go to,i had a 52 back a few weeks ago where owner had hit a post on the front wing ,i spent a lot of time getting the wing 95% straight again because no paint on earth was going to match the patina of 10 year old fiat paint

on vauxhalls weirdly they go pink
fiats go darker

it used to be due to pignments in the paint being affected with ultra violent sunshine

im sure dazman can explain better

the process s and b is talking about is oxidization when the uv from sunlight fades the paint colour and finish over time.if you have a straight colour car ie red, black, white, yellow etc they can get affected over time, but if you have a metallic colour car its protected by a clearcoat lacquer which also protects from fine scratching.
