Hi All,

I have bought a new set of wheel trims for my MK2 punto. I know I should be buying alloys - but I ain't go the cash :)

Anyway how do I get the other ones off to replace them. The handbook says to shake the car (?) and it seems that the wheel nuts go through them. Does this mean I need to take the whole wheel off? Surely not!

Anyway if anyone has taken there set of to replace them can you let me know how it was done.

Sorry for being such a fool!

No way does the wheel nut make contact with the wheel trim, with the load they are under anything except metal would break. Chances are they are just held on with sprung clips. Grap both sides and pull with all your might.

I warn you now though, plastic wheel trims are the second highest cause of tyre blowouts in the world. The standard fit ones on newish cars arn't too bad but the aftermarket ones you can get from halfords can rub on the tyre.

No No, dont tug them off!!! If you look at the holes you will see that one of the bolts has a bigger hole to go into than the other ones. Just take out this one bolt and remove the wheeltrim, then put the new one on and put the bolt back in. Look at the holes on your new trims and you will see what i mean.B)
