Hi

ive got a 2004 Fiat Punto 8v 1.2, and its just failed its mot :(

it failed on 2 things, these were :

1. (load sensing (broken)) Brake Valve Damaged
2. Offside front suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint

if anybody on this forum knows of any places i could get these parts cheap ?? i would be truely grateful

Also for Load sensing valve, where abouts on my car is this so i can have a look for myself, as i havent got a clue what it looks like

thanks steve :)

the ball joint is part of front wishbone you replace the whole thing, not sure where that valve is never had to replace one some where at the back i reckon maybe, the forums eper should show you http://eper.fiatforum.com/

welcome to the forum

these arms as said are £43 from the factor
your valve is on the back axle and a rod moves in relation to how far the back of the car lifts up under severe breaking so as to minimise fluid going to the back cylinders so you dont skid
thing is its usually the pin that corrodes that fastens to the body so to save money you need to get under the rear of the car at the right hand side and see if it is the pin or whether the whole assembly has seized shut

be aware if it has seized shut and you free it off unless you are most careful and or lucky it will start leaking
i cant find one on ebay so a breaker would be my next thought
it should be called a rear brake compensating valve

thankyou for the help :) much appreciated

unfortunately due to the snow, im unable to have a look under the car and do any work on it so will have to leave it

hi, my cars MOT failed on the ball joint having play, only i have just literally changed both bottom arms. someone said it could be where the ball joint fastens to the hub assembly, that the hole is elongated and i might need a new one. is this the hub upright??

have you put the balljoints securely into the hub so the correct bolt goes through?
you can see the top of the balljoint protruding the hub when you have

failure to do this will mean your wheel with strut could fall out on the road whilst driving

surprised motman couldnt advise you ,was he hopeless like lots of them are these days having come to the job direct from playschool?
