Hi,

This is all new to me, so I hope I have posted this is the right place..apologies if not!

Just purchased a 2000 Mk2 Punto. It is the basic model (manual wind windows, and no central locking)

Regarding the locking...is it only possible to lock the passenger door using the lock 'knob/stick' when the door is shut, i.e. driver has to lock the door after passenger has closed door? I am obviously able to lock the door from the outside with the key, but the passenger is unable to push down the knob/stick' whilst the door is open, as they get out of the car.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can only push it down when the door is closed. It's a safety to stop you locking the keys in the car

I see, it does make sense I suppose, but I thought this would only be the case on the drivers door, as its very rare when you just go into the passenger side of the car and not the drivers.

Thanks though! Another quick one if you are able to help, the basic model I have got, does it have a name? Or is it just 'basic model mk2'?

Cheers.

No, it's just punto 1.2 8v
No model name or anything. It's the same on all doors if you have a 5 door. Rear 2 are the same. Annoying as my other punto is manual locks and has a sticky handle that stays up :bang: Always pushing the handle down to lock the rear door
