Is it a common thing on punto's to have slow / Really weak recoiling Front Seat Belts?

I Find is constantly flapping around when i get out the car

Is there anything i can do to try and make them Abit more ""tuggish" and recoil any better?

Ziggy

front and back of mine are slow. think it can lead to mot fail too

My Back Belts as far as i know are fairly good - Obvs Its hardly had passengers in the rear (Well it is a 3dr :yum:)

But both Fronts are Really slow - annoying you sometimes have to feed the belt back in when you've lent forward

well i have 2 car seats in the back so there constantly open. but if i take the car seats out they retract very very slow. it annoys me on the front tho. funny when people get out the back and dont see the seatbelt hasn't retracted and get there foot caught in it and they fall over.
but im sure it was put down as an advisery on the mot

Its like a spring. You have it stretched alot and it looses it springiness! The more and longer you have the belt pulled out for the slower and slower is gets to pull back into position untill it stops being able to pull it at all.

Since having a baby and having the car seat in alot the 2 seats I use have gone the same way

New Spring should sort it?
or possibly Cheating and putting like an elastic band around it to see if it helps?

I think it's a coil it uses as a spring mechanism. I just said spring as the example.

You'd need a new belt really as it's the section it retracts into that would need replacing but the belt is attached on it and would be impossible to remove just that section and to put your old belt on a new one.

Don't think you'd even be able to buy just the retracting bit. I still have the belts from this car I'm breaking. I can see if it's possible to remove the belt from it

or sell them to him before you brake them in looking lol

I've not seen a belt system, so i dont know what you mean till i get a chance to look
But If i need new Belts then i will consider them in due course, as they still lock up fine (when EM' etc)
But and are sorta fine when i'm driving, just sometimes they seem to take ages when u get out the car

Almost every make of car will suffer from this problem as they all use the same basic design of belt material. I believe it is the years of use that ingrains dirt and grease into the fabric of the belt. Also, the constant wear seams to roughen up the belt fabric. Compare a new belt with an old one - the former is smooth and shiney, whereas the latter is rough and stiff. I have tried almost everything to regenerate the belt, but nothing works. The only solution appears to be either a new assembly or replace the belt material. I do not think that it would be advisable to replace the material - too dangerous!

If you were to get a replacement secondhand belt on the likes of ebay, it will almost certainly be as slowly retracting as the one you would be replacing. Invest in a new one!
