Hi all.
My punto jtd 2000 model has developed a fault in the trip meter/odometer, the fault being that the display does not count up the miles as the car is driving. I have tried the trick of of disconnecting the battery ( 48 hours last time left disconnected) but when driven the trip meter will count up to 0.6 miles and then stop. If I reset it to zero it just stays there at zero forever. This car is not fitted with abs, can anyone help or advise what to check or replace to cure the fault.

Hello mate and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Is the speedo working correctly? Is the CITY steering function working correctly? Any warning lights on dash?

If yes, then sounds like dash pod fault.

Alan

Hi Alan.
Thanks for the reply, there are no warning lights on plus both the city steering and the speedo are operating as normal. I was thinking about changing the sensor on the gearbox if it's not too expensive.
