Can anyone help. I've just picked up a second hand Punto 1.2 2001 and the clock etc digital display is flashing, after the battery was disconnected. I didn't get a manual with the car, so need to know how to reset the clock and stop the flashing. If you can help, I'll be your best friend.

Hi mate,

Needs a trip to fiat I am afraid for proxy alignment. I would imagine that the dash has either been changed, or the battery has been disconnected for a very long time.

Only takes few mins on examiner, so will cost you half hours labour or so.

Do you know what the implications are if I run the car as it is for a while, till I can get to a Fiat garage, ie; is my engine management system running properly?

The car has a non-standard radio fitted, is this a possible cause?

car should be fine to run just you might encounter a few strange goings on as everything fails to comunicate properly like dash reseting and things but it wont affect engine running

but please don't expect it to just go away with time because it simply wont if it's done it once it needs doing end of

the after market radio is definitely something to look at as the standard radio is connected to the can network in the iso connector on most models there for if the stereo is connected to either of the can lines inadvertently they are pink with a black and pink with a white trace iirc so if you see these make sure they are not connected to something on the hu we have seen it quite a bit at work peoples stereos causing can network problems
