Hello just joined this site,
i have a 51 plate Punto JDT and the MOT is due next month. When my brother lent my car he pulled the handbrake so hard that it is now on about 12 notches of the cable, it still works barely but it will fail the MOT. Do i need to replace the cable, or can it be adjusted? If i can adjust it can anyone advise me how it is done?
By the way i've had my Punto 2 years and never had a problem with it, great workhorse of a car that runs on fresh air (almost)

Any replys will be apreciated.

Thanks Paul.

Should just need tightening

1.) pull the small ashtray out just behind the hand brake
2.)you will see a small screw which will need to be taken out with an allen key
3.)remove the small tray and now showing will be both your handbrake cables and inbetween will be a long 10mm nut
4.)release the handbrake if not already done so
5.)slightly tighten the nut then check the handbrake and cary on doing so untill your satisfied

too my knowledge you should have around 4 clicks on your handbrake

hope this helps fella :D
